HISTCAPE FINAL CONFERENCE »THE LEGACY OF THE HITSCAPE PROJECT«

Venue: The conference will take place in Podsreda Castle, located in the middle of the Kozjansko region which lies in the eastern Slovenia, on the south of Styria and along the Croatian border (http://kozjanski-park.si/en)

Conference will be organized by University of Ljubljana together with Kozjanski Park, management body of Kozjansko regional park.

Conference background: University of Ljubljana as partner of the project HISTCAPE is hosting the final open conference of the project, which will take place on 16 September at Podsreda Castle in Kozjansko region, Slovenia.

 Results of the project as well some research work related to the natural and cultural heritage preservation will be presented at the conference. Conference will, among others, give emphasis to the European inter-regional cooperation by promoting collaboration between Slovenian, Austrian and other regions and by creating a link with the new European Union member Croatia. Specifics of Kozjansko region, which lies on the border with Croatia, will be especially highlighted. Speakers at the opening session of the conference will be, among others, representative from the Office of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, ambassadors of the Republic of Austria and Croatia and representatives from the INTERREG IVC Programme.   

Thematic sessions of the conference will provide an in-depth insight into the HISTCAPE project results, some scientific lectures on heritage preservation, decision making and management and presentations on future cooperation opportunities in the framework of the new INTERREG V Programme and the European framework programme Horizon 2020. There will also be a conference poster session giving each participant the opportunity to present project results. 

The conference will take place in the medieval castle Podsreda, which was first mentioned in 1213 and is considered as one of the best preserved Romanesque castles with outstanding Renaissance elements in Slovenia. The remarkable scenery of the conference will be accompanied by some music entries, medieval Cuisine and permanent exhibitions in various castle's premises.  

Last but not least, the HISTCAPE project is addressing rural areas and its inhabitants; therefore we would like to attract as many as possible local people from the Slovenian and Croatian side of the border to join us at the event.

Conference will take place in three thematic sessions: 

Theme 1: Good practice examples

Presentations of good practice and pilot actions examples identified and developed in the framework of the FP7 and INTERREG projects. HISTCAPE guidelines and final guidebook presentation.

Theme 2: Planning the future is to know your past

Reflections upon the historical, social and philosophical aspects of heritage values (cultural and natural), their understanding, interpretation and their potential exploitation in the current rural areas development paradigms.

Theme 3: Future cultural and natural heritage research opportunities

Presentations of future research trends in Europe. Presentation of Horizon 2020 and Interreg V priorities in relation to heritage preservation.

 

Conference poster session

Along with the conference there will be poster session and exhibition in another hall of the castle, where all partners, potential sponsors, researchers, participants etc, will have chance to present their work, research, institution…. The exhibition will go on for another two months after the conference.
